Online Food Safety Class

Every food establishment must have one Certified Food Handler for every five staff members on duty at all times.

Training

You can complete the Certified Food Handler training online through TAPSeries.io, which is approved by the Platte County Health Department.

Steps to Certification

  • Step 1: Purchase and finish the TAP Series training online.
  • Step 2: Print the TAP Proof of Completion document at the end.
  • Step 3: Take the proctored exam with one of these options:
    • Option 1: Schedule an online exam by calling 816.858.2412. You'll need a webcam, a valid ID, and Zoom access. If you are more than 15 minutes late to your exam, it will not be done that day and you will need to reschedule.
    • Option 2: Take the exam in person at the Platte County Health Department. Bring your training proof and a photo ID. The name on both documents must match. The exam is available Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

Exam Requirements

  • Score 70% or higher to pass.
  • Bring your training notes if needed. Electronic notes will not be allowed. If you pass, you'll receive a Food Handler ID card, which is included in the course fee.

Note: The proctored exam must be taken within 30 days of completing the training. If not, both the training and exam must be retaken. The exam may be taken up to two times but both attempts cannot be completed on the same day.
